Worship FAQ
Oconee Street UMC holds a traditional worship service every Sunday at 11 a.m. This service livestreams on our site and YouTube.
Where are you?
The church is located at 595 Oconee St., just east of downtown Athens. We're that church on the hill across from Mama's Boy.

You can walk or bike from UGA campus or downtown, take the Route 25 or 27 ACC bus, or drive and park at our lot at 717 Oconee St.
What can I expect?
Sunday service is traditional and participatory.
Dress is eclectic – shorts and sandals, suit and tie, and everything between.
Seating in the sanctuary is available on the main floor and in the balcony. People tend to move around week to week; there are no assigned seats.
Service dogs are welcome. The main building is handicap-accessible with an elevator and assistance equipment for the hearing impaired.
Is there a nursery?
Yes. A paid staff of professional nursery workers operates the nursery for all worship services and most other church events. The church's Safe Sanctuaries policy requires all employees and volunteers who work with children be vetted and trained.
What if I'm not United Methodist?
We come from lots of different backgrounds, and there are no secret handshakes. In the United Methodist Church, anyone may take communion.
